Dr. Adekunle Adesina, affectionately known as “PAPA” by his congregation, serves as the General Overseer of Jubilee Christian Church International, which boasts nearly 50 branches across Nigeria, the West African Coast, East Africa, South Africa, Europe, the Caribbean, the United States, and Canada.
A Pentecostal ministry dedicated to spreading the Gospel globally, with its headquarters situated in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State in Nigeria, West Africa.
Born on January 2nd, 1957, in Abeokuta, Rev. ‘Kunle is renowned for his exceptional humility. He hails from the Muslim family of Alhaji Folorunso Ishola Adesina and Elder (Mrs.) Esther Olawunmi Adesina, both of blessed memory. Raised by his grandmother, the late Mrs. Stella Akinola, who was a Christian in Lagos, his upbringing was shaped by this unique familia circumstance.
He started his schooling at Methodist Primary School in Ago-Ijaiye, Ebute-Metta, Lagos, and then proceeded to Methodist Boys High School, Lagos, for his secondary education. Later, he pursued his Advanced Level Certificate Studies at the Federal School of Arts and Science in Victoria Island, Lagos. Continuing his academic pursuit, he gained admission to study Pharmacy at the University of Lagos (UNILAG).
While undergoing his Advanced Level Certificate studies at the Federal School of Arts and Science, he experienced a spiritual transformation in February 1977. It was during his time at UNILAG that he felt the call to ministry. Motivated by a deep passion to serve God, he actively engaged in sharing the Gospel, both within and beyond the university campuses, from his early academic years.
Following his internship as a Pharmacist at the Ogun State Hospital, Shokenu, Ijaiye, Abeokuta in 1984, he completed his National Youth Service Corps in 1986. Despite his employment as a Pharmacist with the Ogun State Ministry of Health and his posting to the State Hospital, Shokenu, Ijaiye, Abeokuta, he heeded the Lord’s call to start his ministry in Abeokuta.
Guided by the Holy Spirit, he established the Jubilee Christian Fellowship on Wednesday, January 29th, 1987. Five years thereafter, it evolved into a fully recognized church, officially named Jubilee Christian Church International. The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God and the spiritual mentor of Reverend ‘Kunle Adesina.
Rev. Adesina, a man of remarkable faith and exceptional grace, entered matrimony in 1986 with his beloved, Rev. (Dr.) Mrs. ‘Remi Adesina. They had been devoted members of the Christian Union since their university days, and their union has remained steadfast, serving as mutual pillars of support in ministry ever since.
They have been blessed with a son named Samuel Okiki-Jesu Adesina, affectionately known as “the Prophet in the House.” In addition to overseeing the Jubilee Bible School in Nigeria, Rev. (Dr.) ‘Kunle Adesina serves as the Chancellor of the Jubilee International Institute, located in North Carolina, United States of America. Furthermore, he is passionate about children’s education and has established the Jubilee Christian Church Group of Schools, which includes primary and secondary institutions, at the ministry’s headquarters in Nigeria.
